Dr. Michelle Hughes

Hello, my name is Dr. Michelle Hughes and I have a special interest in women’s health.

I have been a Fellow of the American Board of Oriental Reproductive Medicine since 2009 and am honoured to be one of 31 Registered Acupuncturists in Canada to have this advanced certification in fertility and reproductive health. I am also a senior member of the Obstetrical Acupuncture Association.

I have been practicing Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) for over 22 years, graduating from the International College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in Vancouver, British Columbia. I studied in China to further my knowledge of TCM and continue to train with world leaders in reproductive health, fertility and pregnancy care.

My interest in women’s health started when I was struggling with my own period troubles during my schooling. My period had stopped for over a year and my conventional doctor wasn’t concerned about this, but I was. I went for acupuncture and herbal medicine and within a few months my period came back and my cycle returned to normal.

It is my goal to teach women that they can influence their menstrual cycle, fertility and overall health using the principles of TCM.

I developed these Acupressure Guides when I started giving my patients “ acupressure homework” in order to support them between acupuncture appointments. I was getting such positive feedback on how the acupressure was helping them connect to their cycle, their bodies and their overall health.

I want to share these points with everyone, so I’ve created these Acupressure Guides for you.
