“Thank you so much for your help, even after four
sessions I am feeling relief from my chronic back pain.”
Course of Treatment
Acute Pain– 2 visits a week for 2 weeks. Pain relief may often be felt after the first one or two treatments.
Chronic Pain– 2 visits a week for 2-3 weeks then tapering down to once a week for 10 treatments. Pain reduction is often felt after 2-4 visits but treatment time for chronic pain varies between individuals.
Herbal medicine is often used in treatment to help speed healing, decrease inflammation, and promote blood circulation. Complimentary therapies are often suggested to be used in conjunction with acupuncture to speed healing time such as chiropractic, massage therapy, physiotherapy and fitness training.
“I have an autoimmune illness called polymyasitis, it causes weakness in muscles. A year ago I hurt my knee and it became quite stiff, my medical doctor recommended that I get acupuncture, she had already given me various medicines to help my knee and nothing helped. As I had no experience with acupuncture I didn’t take my doctors advice until someone else mentioned acupuncture to me. By this time it was almost Christmas and in January I was going to England. I was getting so worried about having to walk through the airports etc. that I had booked a wheelchair. However, great news, I booked a visit with Michelle Hughes in mid December and had three acupuncture sessions before I left for England. After the very first acupuncture session I noticed improvement after three sessions the stiffness and pain were gone, it was like a miracle. Going to England was great, no stiffness, no pain and I could climb chairs without any pain. I have since continued my acupuncture and am finding it has helped me all over and my muscles are getting stronger. My whole life feels much improved as a result of Michelle helping me with acupuncture.”
My first session is still vivid: she sat with me and took her time to do an exceptionally thorough intake, asking questions about every aspect of my health. I remember leaving feeling wonderfully cared for.
