Anti-aging with Traditional Chinese Medicine
Cosmetic Acupuncture- why I love it so much.
Cosmetic Acupuncture not only improves the appearance of you skin, reducing fine lines and wrinkles and brightening the complexion naturally without any fillers and chemicals, but also has other health benefits; reducing stress and anxiety, improving sleep, boosting the immune system or aiding digestion.
Cosmetic acupuncture helps you to look your healthiest and leave feeling rejuvenated, optimizing your health while at the same time improving your appearance.
What is Cosmetic Acupuncture?
Cosmetic Acupuncture involves tiny needles placed in specific acupuncture points on the face, scalp and body. The scalp and facial needles encourage blood flow to the local area, improving and brightening the complexion. The needles also create a small amount of micro trauma for the skin which encourages it to create collagen and elastin, which naturally starts to diminish after the age of 25, and creates a plumping action which reduces fine lines and wrinkles. Acupuncture needles are also placed in motor points on the face, these points help to tone the muscles, lifting and tightening the skin. Cosmetic acupuncture addresses the whole face, not just one wrinkle or area of the face. Acupuncture points on the body are also used which improve blood circulation to the face and have other benefits depending on the personalized needs of the patient.
Cosmetic Acupuncture is preventative and corrective, which means you can start at any age. As my teacher told us during our training “it is much easier to prevent a wrinkle than get rid of one“. When you are in your twenties or thirties cosmetic acupuncture helps to slow down the aging process and the forming of wrinkles, when you are in your forties and beyond acupuncture helps to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, hydrate the skin and improve skin tone.
Treatment schedules are personalized depending on your age but the general recommendation is initially 5-10 treatments within 5 weeks time to lay the foundation and build lasting results, after that a maintenance plan is prepared with treatments advised from monthly to seasonally depending on your specific skin care needs.
Cosmetic Acupuncture is covered if you have extended health care benefits for acupuncture.
My first session is still vivid: she sat with me and took her time to do an exceptionally thorough intake, asking questions about every aspect of my health. I remember leaving feeling wonderfully cared for.
